Take 2

So we are off again. We seem to have taken a thoroughly more chilled approach this time, more by accident than judgement it must be said. I think maybe because we are setting off midweek, I have not been able to work myself into such a lather as last time. We have dispensed with much if the ceremonies of last time, so no portentous dinner with my mother, no family farewells to Otto as he boarded the bus, only the briefest of cuddles with my boss, who has her own plateful to deal with. We have also been distracted by the house falling apart around our ears, the phone is still screwed and we currently have the sixth uninformed engineer trying to fix it. Also our super-funky, environmentally-friendly air source heat pump has decided now would be a good moment to pack in. It is amazing how cathartic screaming at various technical bods can prove to be.
So off to Great Ormond Street in an hour or, pre-op this afternoon and unless it all gets called off again in for the op tomorrow. So as ever please pray, cross fingers, light candles and give big shout outs for the Aves and I will try to keep the blog updated as to progress.

The above was written this morning before we set off, but… No internet, BT guys fixing the line, so was unable to upload.
So we are now settled into an NHS families house opposite Great Ormond Street. We have been through all the pre-op procedures including the disclaimer chat with a Lithuanian surgeon. These are always a bit grim, they start rattling off percentages, the good news is this op has a 2% fatality rate while her last heart op was at 5%.

We are off for some fine London food the three of us and then barring calamities, she goes in tomorrow at 10.
