Home alone

So we have all been back at home since Sunday. Overall this is fantastic and it is wonderful to be a family again in our home. However, it does mean that we are on our own, away from all the brilliant healthcare professionals there are in hospital. We need to administer all the antibiotics she needs to take, monitor her temperature regularly and check that she is taking in enough fluids. This all takes its toll and has led to some tension between Fo and me.
AJ is dealing it all brilliantly and as you can see from these two before and after photos she decided that she should dispense with the tube up her nose.

We panicked and phoned the hospital. They told us essentially that if we had the balls and were able to get the antibiotics in, via her mouth, we should sit it out and stay home. We need to take her back to the JR every two days to make sure that she her bloods are ok, i.e. has enough platelets and no infections, first check went well and she is about to go in again now.
One of the most touching things is watching how much Otto and Ava-Jane need each other. He really does adore her. He always involves her in his games, even giving her starring roles, e.g. Professor X to his Wolverine, given her baldness and habit of travelling in a wheelchair (pushchair) she is undoubtedly a natural for the part. We do worry what it would do to him if anything happened to her, it would leave such a massive hole in his short life. Not really worth considering at this point I suppose.
